She came from Mengcheng, Anhui Province. Her great-grandfather GaoQiong is a famous general in the early years of Song dynasty,her father Gao Zunfu worked as deputy envoy of North workshop and her mother Miss cao is the granddaughter of a Northern Song’s founder —Cao Bing and the Song Ren Zong’s queens sister. Miss Gao was raised in the palace with Song Ying Zong when she was young, and they got married in Song Ren Zong’s dynasty when Song Ying Zong was the crown prince. In Jiayou eight years (1063), Song Ren Zong died and Song Ying Zong succeeded to the throne.Miss Gao became queen and was honored as the Queen Mother after Song Shen Zong taking the throne. In Yuanfeng eight years (1085), Song Shen Zong died of illness and he assigned Song Zhe Zong to be the new emperor,so Miss Gao was respected as grandma-empress and managed all the political and military affairs.From then on,Miss Gao began to rule behind a curtain. During the period of her administration, a series of measures were taken to stabilize the political situation in the early years
