All duty officers/e ngin eers and rat ings shall be provided a mini mum of 10 hours of rest in every 24-hours period. The hours of rest may be divided into no more tha n two periods, one of which shall be at least 6 hours in len gth. The mini mum period of 10 hours may be reduced to not less tha n 6 con secutive hours for no ore tha n 2 days, provided 70 hours rest give n each 7-day period.
