Why do we try to treat?为什么我们要尝试治疗? Purpose 目的 To let the animals have a good quality of life with their family for as long as possible 尽可能让动物和其家庭有一个高品质的生活 What is a “good quality of life”? 何为“高品质的生活”? Quality of life Life without pain 生活无痛苦 Performing the normal daily activities 每日正常活动 An animal that: 作为动物 Is happy to see the owners 看见主人很高兴 Wants to eat and drink 饮食正常 Can control his urination/defecation 能控制大小便 Quality of life 生活质量 Much more important than how long they live!!! 比能活多久更重要!!! Life without quality of life means lengthening the period of suffering 没有质量的生活意味着延长了痛苦. Quality of Life 生活质量 Holding on to it: 要坚持 Try not to cause any side effects due to treatments- surgery, chemotherapy or any other types that could cause the animal to feel worse 尽可能不要因为治疗，如手术、化疗或其他副反应而导致感觉不适 Think before every treatment 治疗前三思 Is this treatment justified 治疗是否合理 Based on what it could do to improve the animal’s well being 根据是否能改善动物的舒适感而定 If an animal is suffering 如果动物很痛苦 Either from the tumor or the treatment 不管是由于肿瘤还是治疗 Think about changing the drug/ dose 考虑改变药物或剂量 Think about stopping the treatment 考虑停止治疗 Try to think about additional palliative case, if available 如果可能尝试用其他姑息疗法 If there are no options to improve quality of life 如果无法改善生活质量 Know when to give up 考虑何时放弃 Remember 牢记 Each treatment is specific for a specific disease, pets and owners! 每种疗法只针对特定的疾病，包括宠物和主人！
