Unit 3 At the zoo
A Let’s learn
Teaching aims:
1.Students can listen ,speak and read the new words such as “fat,thin,tall,short”.
2.Students can apply the sentence pattern“Look at that...It’s fat\thin\tall\short”.
3.Cultivate students’ sense of protecting the animals.

Step 1 warm up
Greetings:
T:Good morning,boys and girls.How are you?
Ss:I’m fine,thank you. And you?
T: I’m fine,too. Now before the class,I’ll divide all of you into 2 groups.
Let’s have a chant together.
Look at the cat. It is fat.
Look at the pig. It is big.
Look at the dog. It’s on the log.
Look at the duck . It’s in the truck.
Look at the bear. It’s on the pear.
T:The animals are so cute,right?
Ss:Yes.
T: Now this class we’ll learn unit 3 At the zoo.
Step 2 Presentation
1.T: I prepare some pictures of animals,Let’s have a look.
Picture 1
T:What’s this?
S1:It’s a panda.
T:Look at the panda,It’s...
S2:It’s fat.
T:Yes,it’s fat. (write it on the blackboard) fat↑ fat↓ The panda is fat.
2.I’ll teach the word with phonics,then read together and in groups. At last lead students to read one by one.
Then I will teach other new words in the same way.
Step 3 Practice
Play a bomb game:
I’ll put a bomb near the word,then students read after me .When I read the bomb word,they should be silent,who reads the bomb word,we’ll throw a bomb to him.
Look at the picture on the screen
T:What animals can you see in the picture?
Ss: monkey, giraffe...
T:How many...?
Ss:Two.
First,listen to the video .
Then listen and repeat.
Ask 3 students to talk about the other animals.
Ask Ss: At the zoo ,what should we do?And what shouldn’t we do?
Step 4 Consolidation
Let’s do.
