Background
Beiji ng opera is con sidered as a n ati onal treasure in China, and has a history dati ng back more tha n 200 years .In the 55th year of the reig n of Emperor Qia nlong of the Qing Dyn asty (1790), the four big Huiba n opera Troupes en tered the capital. Gradually they comb ined with the Kunqu Opera, Yiya ng Opera, Hanju Opera and Lua ntan, which were part of
Beijing s thearetical circle of the time. Throug a period of more tha n half a cen tury these various kinds of opera comb in ed, in tegrated and evolved into the prese nt Beiji ng opera. Today, Beiji ng Opera is the largest and most in flue ntial kind of opera in China and its rich ness of repertoire, great nu mber of artists, avid audie nces, and profo und in flue nee are in comparable in Chi na.
