Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen! It’s my great honor to stand here to share my teaching plan with you. I’ll teach Unit 5 Section B 2b. To make my presentation clear, I’ll present my teaching plan from six parts. . I. Analysis of teaching material The topic of Unit 5 is about unforgettable events. The passage of 2b is about two important events in American history and what common people were doing at the time of important events. Students may be not familiar with the two events, so I’ll provide some background knowledge when neccesary to arouse students’ learning interests. II. Analysis of the students Students in Grade 8 have learned present progressive since they were in Grade 7. And they can communicate with others in English, using the simple words and expressions. So it’s not difficult for them to learn past progressive. III. Teaching objectives According to the teaching material and the students in Grade 8, I designed three objectives: 1.The knowledge objectives: By the end of this lesson, students can know about the information of Dr, Martin Luther King and the September 11 attack. And they can master the important words and expressions, such as pupil, completely, silence, take down, date, tower and so on. 2. The ability objectives: (1). To train students’ reading ability: a. Students can predict “What is the passage about?” with the help of the title and the pictures. b. Students can retell the main idea of each part after answering questions. C.Students develop the ability of fast reading, intensive reading, looking for information, getting the main ideas, catching the key words and making use of information according to the context. (2).
