I. The elements of oral presentation Basically there are three parts to a typical presentation: the beginning, the middle and the end (or introduction, body and conclusion). 1. Introduction Your introduction should accomplish two functions: 1. interest your audience; and 2. stimulate your audience to hear and remember your speech. Introduce yourself and your background if your audience is unfamiliar with your credentials. 2. Body Summarize the body into several points to make sure it is clear and hold the audience’s attention. Use the same organizational patterns in a letter, memo, or a report. 3. Conclusion Since the audience’s attention peaks at the close of a speech or presentation, when developing your conclusion, begin by telling listeners that you’ve about to finish, so that they will make one final effort to listen intently.
