Unit 7 It’s raining.
Section A (1a-2c)
Step 1.Warming up and Lead-in
Spring is coming. The weather is warmer and warmer .It’s sunny today. We’re going to have a good time. Today we are going to learn Unit 7 It’s raining.
Step 2.Revision
(Show the pictures on the big screen) then introduce it like this:
What do the sign mean? Ask the students to answer. Sunny /cloudy /windy /rainy /snowy.
We can describe the weather like this:
It’s sunny /cloudy /windy /rainy /snowy.
Step 3. Presentation
Write the words about the weather according to the pictures on the screen.
Answers: 1,sunny 2,cloudy 3,windy 4,rainy 5,snowy
Ask the students to use How’s the weather? / What’s the weather like? It’s… .
to practice the structures.
Step 4. Practice
Look at the picture in 1a. Then read the words on the left. Ask the students to match the words with the picture.
Check the answers.
Answers: 1, a 2, b 3, e 4, c 5, d
Listen and write these city names in the boxes above.
Beijing Moscow Toronto Boston Shanghai
Show some pictures to the students and ask them to ask and answer in pairs about the weather.
A: Hi! This is Peter.
B: Hello, Peter. It’s Tom.
A: How’s the weather in Beijing?
(What’s the weather like in Beijing?)
B: It’s sunny.
Step 5. Task (the best weather forecaster)
(Show some pictures on the big screen.)
Ask the students “How’s the weather? /What’s the weather like?
The students guess and answer the question.

(What’s the weather like in Beijing?)
B: It’s sunny.
Work in groups to give the weather report.
Report like this: Here is the weather report for some big cities in China.
Beijing is sunny. Shanghai is …
Step 6. Pair work
(Show some pictures on the big screen.)
Ask students to describe the weather and describe what he /she is doing?
