(Purpose of my design: Check students what they have learned in the last class because they have read the material fast and mastered the main idea of the text as well as the main idea for each part.)
The main idea of the text:Wang Peng found out why he had lost his customer and decided to win them back.
part 1 (para.1) Wang Peng’s frustrated feeling because of his empty restaurant.
part 2 (para.2-3) Wang Peng’s experiences in a new small but popular restaurant.
part 3 (para.4) Wang Peng’s research and decision
= 2 \* ROMAN II. Intensive reading
(Purpose of my design: Enable students to understand the given material better by using different reading skills. Guide students to read the material carefully and take some important notes, then answer the following questions. And proper competition can arouse the students’ interest in English learning. Besides, intensive reading can develop the students’ ability of communication and also their ability of co-operation will be well trained.)
Part 1:
Wang Peng’s restaurant Feelings: He sat in his restaurant feeling very frustrated.
Empty Menu: barbecued mutton kebabs, roast pork, stir-fried vegetables and fried rice; mutton, beef, bacon, cola, and ice cream.
Lao Li: something terrible must have happened if he was not coming to eat in his restaurant as he always did.
Yong Hui’s sign:
Tired of all that fat?
Want to lose weight?
Come inside Yong Hui’s slimming restaurant.
Only slimming foods served here.
Make yourself thin again!
Part 2:
Yong Hui’s restaurant Hostess: Her name is Yong Hui, a very thin lady. She could
Popular help people lose weight and be fit in two weeks. Food: There were only few choices just rice, raw vegetables, fruit and water.
Price: It costs more than a good meal in Wang Peng’s restaurant.
