China has the largest asthmatic population and is one of the countries with the highest asthma mortality. However, studies of the financial impact of asthma has not yet been properly performed in China. To understand treatment during hospitalization and to explore its association with the total cost2. To understand co-morbidities and to explore its association with the total cost1.1 Medication status during hospitalization by category(anti-asthma, antibiotics, et al.), total costs in each drug category1.2 ICU days and its cost, mechanical ventilation days and its cost2.1 The number of co-morbiditiesStudy design A multi-center retrospective observational study Inclusion Criteria: Inpatients (age 14 years old) Diagnosis of asthma according to GINA guideline Admitted to the hospital (including ICU) mainly due to asthma exacerbation Exclusion Criteria:Patients admitted due to other active diseases such as bronchiectasis, COPD, cystic fibrosis, chronic upper airway cough syndrome, lung cancer, severe heart disease, et al. Cases during Jan 2013 to Dec 2014 will be collected.
