You are a brain. 教学重点 5个俚语表达的意思和用法。 教学难点 1.动词find, cost, pull的解释。 2.5个俚语表达的正确用法。 教学过程 Ⅰ.导入新课 1.名词解释:俚语 俚语,指民间的、不是正式的、较为口语化的语句,是百姓在日常生活中总结而来的,通俗易懂的表达,简言之,就是一种非正式的语言,通常用在非正式场合。 2.引入新课:那些由“身体部位”组成的俚语。 Ⅱ.新课讲授 1.find your feet (1)意思解释:适应新环境。 (2)举例说明: ①Abigail is still finding her feet as a teacher. ②After moving to Shanghai, it took me a long time to find my feet. (3)由来:动物幼崽为适应残酷的自然法则,一出生便尝试站立。 2.cost an arm and a leg (1)意思解释:昂贵。 (2)由来:第一次世界大战,士兵上战场要付出高昂的代价。 (3)举例说明: ①That dress costs me an arm and a leg. ②This diamond costs me an arm and a leg. ③If you want to get a house in New York, you will cost an arm and a leg. 3.pull one’s leg (1)意思解释:开别人玩笑。 (2)由来:维多利亚时期的伦敦,抢劫犯的惯用手法。 (3)举例说明: ①-People pull my leg all the time because of my repeated failures. -Dont worry, I got you back. ②-I want to quit my job. Its so boring. -What? Are you pulling my leg? 4.I’m all ears. (1)意思解释:洗耳恭听。 (2)举例说明: ①-I have an idea. -What is it? Im all ears. ②When the teacher said something about the examination, students were all ears. 5.You are a brain. (1)意思解释:非常聪明的人。 (2)举例说明:You’re/He’s/She’s a brain. Ⅲ.强化巩固 通过练习加强理解。 1.- Did Linda really go to America today? - No way. She was only pulling your leg. 2.Did it take you long to find you feet when you started your job? 3.College tuition cost an arm and a leg nowadays. 4.When he gave me advice, I am all ears. 5.You got an A! You are a brain!
