Writing-A Letter of Advice
An Overall Analysis of this Period
Writing is a more complex stage of language learning. It requires students to express their thoughts clearly and systematically. However, the disadvantage of the traditional input plus output teaching mode is that the input part takes too long, overcrowds the output time, and a writing class often ends in a hurry, failing to achieve the desired effect. Thus, this period is to change from fostering writing to exploring writing. For Senior 3 students, although they have a certain foundation of writing a letter of advice, trying to polish the writing and improve the scores is still a big challenge. So, in this period, I will pay more attention to guide the students to write and polish a letter of advice. Due to this, we should schedule a gradual guiding process in the period. As a guider, I will try to inspire the students to make every effort to recall what they have learned. Finally, to write and polish the writing task to further consolidate what we have learned in class.
I.Teaching Objectives
1. Knowledge Objectives
1. To know what is a good letter of advice.
2.To learn about the criteria of writing a good letter of advice according to the English Composition Scoring Criteria for College Entrance Examination .
2. Ability Objectives
1.To analyze the problems of a letter of advice and try to find out the solutions.
2.To polish a letter of advice with some senior words and sentence patterns.
3. Moral Objectives
To attract students’ interest in learning English.Strengthen the cooperation with each other and have a sense of expressing the ideas in English.
II.Teaching focal point and difficult point
1. According to the criteria of writing a good suggestion letter, try to develop students’ writing ability by guiding the students to analyze problems.
2. Make sure that the students can summarize the high-level syntax and use it to polish the writing.
