Methods A retrospective analysis was performed, on patients who asked for excimer laser for myopia, in terms of the interrelation between preoperative screening and postoperative complicatio, as well as the patients’ satisfaction. Results Preoperative screening was conducted in 1 000 patients (1 978 eyes) who were divided into groups A, B, and C. In A group, 938 patients (1 860 eyes, %) were indicated for the surgery. All of the naked visual acuities achieved or exceeded the best preoperatively corrected visual acuities after excimer laser in situ keratomileusis, xecimer laser keratectomy, or excimer subepithelial keratomileusis. All the patients had a normal corneal topography, without visual acuity descending, dazzling and visual disorder at night. In group B, 35patients （66 eyes, %） were contraindicated. In group C, 27 patients (52 eyes, %) were relatively contraindicated, the outcome was similar to that of group A after screening and proper surgery.
