Teaching Advice
I Lead in
This part helps students to get a general idea about the locations of tourist attractions. In this
part, teachers may ask students to look at the tourism culture symbols which refer to what or who
can represent the tourism culture and tell the names of them in English or Chinese. Or the teacher
may play a short video of brief introduction to the travel destination(s), and ask students to note
down the symbols in English or Chinese mentioned or appeared in the video. Take the U.K. as an
example: the tourism culture symbols of the U.K. may be Big Ben, the Westminster Abbey, the
London Eye, the Tower of London, Buckingham Palace, Windsor Castle, William Shakespeare, etc.
II Warm up
This part helps students to examine their cognition about the cultural symbols and attractions.

Teachers may ask students to discuss the symbols and places of interest and then match column A and B.
III Overview
This part helps students to overview the history, the geography and the attractions of each travel
destination. In this part, teachers may ask students to read themselves and get a general idea of it.
Teachers may ask some questions related to this part to check whether the students have understood it.
IV Get to know
This part helps students to get to know the cultural symbols and attractions of each destina-
tion. Teachers may divide the students into groups according to how many attractions there are
in this part. For example, there are 5 tourist attractions. Then the students can be divided into
5 groups. Teachers may ask each group to read one attraction’s introduction. Then each group
choose one candidate to try using his (her) own words to practice introducing that attraction.
Teachers may give them a scare as a bonus
