Rowlings Harry Potter series back in 1997, an unprecedented upsurge of interest and enthusiasm about the series has been sweeping the entire globe. Readers, across genders, ages and nations, are attracted and mesmerized, being amused by the magical and mythical world the author has so successfully established and created. Many studies have been carried out in search of the reasons behind the brilliant and amazing success of the series. The author, in this thesis, would like to attribute the success of Harry Potter series partly and fairly to J.K. Rowlings effective manipulation of the various Gothic elements and her incorporation of some Gothic conventions in these novels.
