REV. A 1 OF 2 Replacing the 2489 Flow Cell When to Replace The 2489 is shipped with an analytical TaperSlit™ flow cell installed. Replace the flow cell: • If the flow cell becomes damaged • When you want to use one of the optional flow cells Parts Required TaperSlit™ flow cell assemblies • Analytical – # WAS081140 • Semi-Prep Taper Slit Flow Cell (# WAT081158) • Microbore Taper Slit Flow Cell (# WAT081159) • High Pressure Taper Slit Flow Cell (# WAT081321) • Autopure Flow Cell (# 289000614) • Dual-Path Flow Cell (# 289000935) Tools Required • Flat-blade screwdriver, WAT272058 Preparation 1. Before performing this procedure, you should flush and dry the flow cell by following the “Cleaning the Flow Cell” procedure on this CD, or refer to the 2489 Operator’s manual. 2. Always wear powder-free gloves or finger cots when handling the flow cell to prevent contact with residual solvents. Removing the Flow Cell Assembly 1. Turn the detector off and disconnect the power cord. 2. Remove the left-front detector panel to access the flow cell. 3. Use the flat-blade screwdriver, to loosen the three captive screws on the front of the flow cell assembly (Figure 1). Replacing the 2489 Flow Cell REV. Installing the Flow Cell Assembly NOTE: If using the optional cuvette, install it into the cuvette holder before placing the holder into the flow cell assembly. 1.
