REV. A 1 OF 4 Replacing the 2424 Nebulizer The pneumatically controlled nebulizer converts solvent flow to an aerosol. There are two nebulizer configurations: • High-flow for solvent flows of 0.3 to 3.0 mL/min • Low-flow for solvent flows of 0.005 to 0.5 mL/min When to Replace • If the nebulizer is damaged • If your application requires a higher or lower flow rate Parts Required • High flow nebulizer, # 205000458 • Low flow nebulizer, # 205000459 Tools Required • 5/16-inch open-end wrench Preparation 1. Before performing this procedure, stop solvent flow to the system, then turn off gas flow. 2. Always wear powder-free gloves or finger cots when handling the nebulizer to prevent contact with residual solvents. Replacing the 2424 Nebulizer REV. A 2 OF 4 Removing the Old Nebulizer 1. Turn the detector off, then disconnect the power cord. CAUTION: IF YOU USED THE NEBULIZER HEATER, WAIT 30 MINUTES FOR THE NEBULIZER TO COOL BEFORE TOUCHING IT. 2. Remove the left front cover. 3. If a column or second detector is connected to the system, disconnect the solvent inlet tubing from the front of the nebulizer as follows: a. Use the 5/16-inch wrench to loosen the compression screw that holds the inlet tubing in place. Figure 1 - Removing the Compression Screw b. Remove the solvent inlet tubing from nebulizer. 4.
