A 1 OF 4 Replacing the 2424 Lamp Cartridge When to Replace • If the lamp fails to ignite on power-up or does not pass power-up verification • When the energy level in the lamp causes a decrease in sensitivity to the point where the baseline is too noisy for your LC application • If the lamp no longer provides an adequate signal-to-noise ratio for your specific application Parts Required • 2424 Performance Maintenance Kit, 201000159 Tools Required • #2 Phillips head screwdriver Precautions • The lamp housing becomes extremely hot during operation. To prevent burns, allow the lamp to cool for one hour before removing it. • When replacing the lamp, do not touch it with your bare fingers. Skin oils can greatly reduce lamp lifetime. Remove any fingerprints from the lamp with a lint-free tissue saturated with ethanol. • Always keep the lamp in the housing during operation. Removing the Old Lamp Cartridge 1. Turn the detector off, then disconnect the power cord. 2. Allow the lamp to cool for at least 60 minutes. 3. Carefully remove the left front panel cover. Replacing the 2424 Lamp Cartridge REV. A 2 OF 4 4. Using the Phillips screwdriver, completely loosen the two captive screws and pull the assembly out slightly to relieve stress on the lamp connector wires.
