Abstract

ThispapertakesthefilmadaptationoftheRiverasanexampletodiscussthefilmadaptationofavant-gardenovels.Thepaperfirstexpoundsthetheoreticalbasisofcross-medianarrativebetweenliteratureandfilmandtelevision,includingtheconnectionanddifferencebetweenliteratureandfilmandtelevision,thedefinitionandcharacteristicsofcross-medianarrative,andthesignificanceandchallengesoffilmandtelevisionadaptation.Then,thepaperanalyzesthecharacteristicsofavant-gardenovelsandthepossibilitiesofcross-medianarrative,andrevealsthepotentialandvalueofavant-gardenovelsincross-mediaadaptationthroughcaseresearch.Subsequently,thepaperanalyzesindetailthecomparisonofthenovelandtheadaptationofthefilm,anddiscussestheinheritanceandinnovationofthethemeandstorystructureofthenovelintheprocessoffilmandtelevision.Furthermore,thepaperevaluatestheartisticachievements,narrativestrategiesandaudienceresponseofthefilmadaptationofTheWrongbytheRiver,andrevealsitssuccessandshortcomings.Finally,thepapersummarizestheenlightenmentandprospectofthecross-medianarrativeofpioneernovels,andputsforwardtheinnovationpath,possibledevelopmentdirectionandpracticalsuggestions,whichprovidesausefulreferenceforthefutureadaptationofpioneernovelsandfilms.
