Moreover,asthesetwodictionariesarenotspecificallytailoredforChineselearners,
amorelocalizeddesignandcompilationofdictionarieswouldbettermeettheneeds
ofChineseEFLlearners.
Finally,utilizingthecorpus-basedapproachesanddrawinguponsemanticfield
theory,chunktheory,andthenoticinghypothesis,thisthesisproposesasetof
optimizationsuggestionsfromtwodimensions:dictionarydesignandpresentation
methods.Thesesuggestionsaimtoimprovethetreatmentofverb-nouncollocationsin
learner’sdictionariestomeettheneedsofChineseEFLlearners.Intermsof
dictionarydesign,itisrecommendedtoestablisherrorwarningsanddedicated
collocationboxes.Whensettingupthecollocationbox,verb-nouncollocationsshould
beselectivelyincludedbasedontheirtypicality,frequencyandthesemanticfields
theybelongto,andsystematicallyorganizedbypartofspeechandsemanticfields.
