objectivelyandcomprehensivelyunderstandthecurrentsituationoflanguageuse.

SinceShlesinger(1989)discoveredtheequalizingeffect,thatis,simultaneous

interpretingwillshiftthepositionofthesourcediscourseontheoral-literate

continuum,manyChineseandforeignscholarshaveconducteddescriptivestudieson

orality/literacyshiftsininterpreting,whicharealmostbasedontheon-site

interpreting.

Withthegrowingtrendofremoteinterpreting,thisarticleseekstoexplorethe

phenomenonofpragmaticshiftsinthistypeofinterpreting.Theauthorfirstraisedthe

followingfourresearchquestions:First,whatkindsofshiftsoccurinremote

consecutiveinterpreting?Second,howdotheshiftsobservedinremoteconsecutive

interpretingcomparetothoseobservedinon-siteconsecutiveinterpreting?Third,

whatarethecausesoftheseshifts?Then,theauthorselectedthe9thand10thAll

ChinaInterpretingContestsasresearchmaterialsandtranscribedthesourcetextsand

therecordingsofthetop10contestantsinthetwocontestsforfurtherresearch.Based

ontherelevantresearchofpredecessors,theauthoridentified10oralandwritten

characteristicsthatareeasytoquantifyinEnglishandChineseasparametersfor

analyzingtheoralityandliteracyoftexts,thenmarkedtheparametersoforiginaltexts

andtargettextsintwocontestsandcountedthefrequencyofoccurrenceofeach

parameter,andfinallyusedSPSSsoftwaretocompareandanalyzethestatisticaldata,

soastoinferwhethertheorality/literacyoforiginaltextswasshifted.After
