22percentgreaterrateofcriminalbehavior.Thestudyalsofoundthatthesekidsfailedtodevelop

importantlifeskills.Theyspentsomuchtimetryingtoseemcool.Theydidntdeveloptheskillsneeded

formeaningfulfriendships.

Thestudyfollowed86maleand98femalemiddleschoolstudentsfora10yearperiod.Ithassome

surprisingfindings.Inparticular,thestudynotesthatthesocalledcoolbehaviorisapredictor（

）offutureproblemswithdrugsandalcohol.Infact,itisabetterpredictorthandrugandalcoholuse
