Now,there’reonlyabout2,500speakersleft.Butpeoplearegettingcreativeinthefighttochangethattrend.ThelanguageisgettingaboostonMinecraft.MusiciansarereleasingnewsongswithElfdalianlyrics(歌词).Severalchildren’sbookswerealsotranslatedintoElfdalian.Additionally,Rehnstr?mhelpsrunapopularonlinegroupthatofferscoursesintheElfdalianlanguage,wherehepostslessonstothegroup’s1,800globalmembers.

ThelocalgovernmentsupportstheteachingandpreservationofElfdalian.Thelanguageisalsorecognizedonaninternationallevel.In2016,itwasassignedanISOlanguagecode,whichhelpstheInternetdistinguishonelanguagefromanother.

ButthenationalgovernmentofSwedenisadifferentstory.TheycurrentlyconsiderElfdalianadialectofSwedish,notitsownlanguage.SpeakinginElfdalian,SwedishMPPeterHelanderrecentlyaskedParliament(国会)whythat’sthecase.ButbeforeCultureMinisterAmandaLindcouldanswerthequestion,theparliamentaryspeakerLucainterruptedthembothtosaythatonlySwedishmaybespoken.
