Whattookplacemeanwhilewasmypianostudies,whichagainexposedmetoclassicalmusic.ButIhavetoadmitthebeginnerpiecessoundedratheruninspiredanddulltome.ThankstoYouTube,Iwasabletoexploremorethanwhatmyfirstpianoteacheroffered—frompianotoorchestralmusic,fromBachtoScriabin.Veryoften,Ididn’tpractisethepiecesmyteacherassigned,butthepiecesItrulyloved!It’salsothroughtheInternetthatIdiscoveredoneofmypianoidolslater,GrigorySokolov.Lateron,Ibecameinterestedinnotonlythemusicitself,butalsocomposersandmusichistory.

Istillrememberina28-dayoutdoorprograminAustraliaorganizedbymyhighschool,weweren’tallowedtouseourmobilephonesandtherewasn’tanypianoeither.WhatIcouldonlydowastorepeatedlyrecallChopin’sPreludes(前奏曲)Op.28whenwalkingupthehills.Ifeltpeacefulasusual,butevenhappierwithgrowingenthusiasmformusic.
