1.1Thispracticedescribesprocedurestobefollowedduring

eddy-currentexamination(usinganinternal,probe-type,coil

assembly)ofnonmagnetictubingthathasbeeninstalledina

heatexchanger.Theprocedurerecognizesboththeunique

problemsofimplementinganeddy-currentexaminationof

installedtubing,andtheindigenousformsoftube-walldete-

riorationwhichmayoccurduringthistypeofservice.The

documentprimarilyaddressesscheduledmaintenanceinspec-

tionofheatexchangers,butcanalsobeusedbymanufacturers

ofheatexchangers,eithertoexaminetheconditionofthetubes

afterinstallation,ortoestablishbaselinedataforevaluating

subsequentperformanceoftheproductafterexposureto

variousenvironmentalconditions.Theultimatepurposeisthe

detectionandevaluationofparticulartypesoftubeintegrity

degradationwhichcouldresultinin-servicetubefailures.
