ThisstandardisissuedunderthefixeddesignationF1551;thenumberimmediatelyfollowingthedesignationindicatestheyearoforiginaladoptionor,inthecaseofrevision,theyearoflastrevision.Anumberinparenthesesindicatestheyearoflastreapproval.Asuperscriptepsilon(e)indicatesaneditorialchangesincethelastrevisionorreapproval.

Scope

Thesetestmethodsestablisharecommendedlistoftestmethodstobeusedfortheidentificationofphysicalpropertycharacteristicsandcomparisonoftheperformancepropertiesofsyntheticturfsystemsorcomponentsforathleticandrecreationaluses,orboth.

Thetestproceduresincludedinthesetestmethodsapplyasagrouptothedescriptionofsyntheticturfplayingsurfaces.

Someofthetestproceduresarespecificforcomponentsofthesyntheticturfsystem,andothersapplytothecompletesyntheticturfplayingsurface.

Someofthetestproceduresaresuitableonlyforthelaboratorycharacterizationofeithercomponentsorthecom-pletesystem;othersaresuitablefortestsoninstalledsportsfields;andsometestsmaybeappliedinboththelaboratoryandthefield.

Referencetothemethodsfortestingthesyntheticturfplayingsurfaceanditscomponentscontainedhereinshouldstatespecificallytheparticulartestortestsdesiredandnotnecessarilyrefertothesetestmethodsasawhole.
