ThisstandardisissuedunderthefixeddesignationF2167;thenumberimmediatelyfollowingthedesignationindicatestheyearoforiginaladoptionor,inthecaseofrevision,theyearoflastrevision.Anumberinparenthesesindicatestheyearoflastreapproval.Asuperscriptepsilon(e)indicatesaneditorialchangesincethelastrevisionorreapproval.

INTRODUCTION

Thisconsumersafetyspecificationisintendedtomitigatepotentialsafetyhazardsassociatedwithachild’suseofaninfantbouncerseatandtherebyminimizetheriskofinjuryordeath.Thespecifichazardsaddressedbythisstandardareproductdisassembly/collapse,stability,andfallsfromelevatedsurfaces.

Scope

Thisconsumersafetyspecificationcoversestablishmentofrequirements,testmethods,andmarkingrequirementstopromotesafeuseofaninfantbouncerseatbyanoccupantandacaregiver.

Forpurposesofthisconsumersafetyspecification,aninfantbouncerseatisafreestandingproductintendedtosupportanoccupantinareclinedpositiontofacilitatebouncingbytheoccupant,withtheaidofacaregiverorbyothermeans.Intendedoccupantsareinfantswhohavenotdevelopedtheabilitytositupunassisted(approximately0to6monthsofage).

Thisconsumersafetyspecificationisintendedtomini-mizetheriskofinjurytoanoccupantresultingfromnormaluseandreasonablyforeseeablemisuseorabuseofaninfantbouncerseat.

Noinfantbouncerseatproducedaftertheapprovaldateofthisconsumersafetyspecificationshall,eitherbylabelorothermeans,indicatecompliancewiththisspecificationunlessitconformstoallrequirementscontainedherein.

Thisconsumersafetyspecificationisnotintendedtoaddressincidentsandinjuriesresultingfromtheinteractionofotherpersonswiththeoccupantinaninfantbouncerseatortheinc
