ThisstandardisissuedunderthefixeddesignationF2234;thenumberimmediatelyfollowingthedesignationindicatestheyearoforiginaladoptionor,inthecaseofrevision,theyearoflastrevision.Anumberinparenthesesindicatestheyearoflastreapproval.Asuperscriptepsilon(e)indicatesaneditorialchangesincethelastrevisionorreapproval.

Scope

Thisspecificationestablishesnationallyrecognizedper-formancerequirementsforportablegasolineandkerosenefuelingsystemsintendedforreusebytheconsumerinfilling,transport,dispensing,andstorage.Thisspecificationdoesnotcoversingle-tripprepackagedcontainers.

Thisspecificationdefinesperformancerequirementsforsystemsthatcaneffectivelyreducefuelspillageandemissionswhenusedinaccordancewiththemanufacturer’s(marked)warnings,operatinginstructions,andlimitationsofuse.Thisspecificationdoesnotprovideassurancethatsystemsmeetingtherequirementsaresuitedtoallfuelingapplicationsandconditions.

Thisspecificationisnotafirehazardstandard.Itconcernsportablegasolineandkerosenecontainersforcon-sumeruse.

ContainersusedwiththesesystemsshallmeetallapplicablerequirementsofeitherSpecificationF852orF976andadditionalrequirementsasspecifiedinthisstandard.
