INTRODUCTION

TheneedforsystematicandconsistentmeansofevaluatingthecapabilityofsurfacesystemstoprovideaccesstoplaygroundshasbeenamplifiedbythepassageoftheFederalAmericanswithDisabilitiesAct.Thegoalofthisspecificationistoestablishuniformmeanstomeasurethecharacteristicsofsurfacesystemsinordertoprovidethepotentialbuyerwithperformancespecificationstoselectmaterialsforuseasanaccessiblesurfaceunderandaroundplaygroundequipment.

Scope

Thisspecificationestablishesminimumcharacteristicsforthosefactorsthatdetermineaccessibility.Thisspecificationappliestoalltypesofmaterialsthatcanbeusedunderandaroundplaygroundequipment.

ThematerialunderandaroundplaygroundequipmentthatmeetsthisspecificationmustalsocomplywithSpecifica-tionF1292ifthesurfaceiswithinthefallzone.
