ThisstandardisissuedunderthefixeddesignationF2012;thenumberimmediatelyfollowingthedesignationindicatestheyearoforiginaladoptionor,inthecaseofrevision,theyearoflastrevision.Anumberinparenthesesindicatestheyearoflastreapproval.Asuperscriptepsilon(e)indicatesaneditorialchangesincethelastrevisionorreapproval.

INTRODUCTION

Thisconsumersafetyperformancespecificationisintendedtomitigatepotentialsafetyhazardsassociatedwithachild’suseofastationaryactivitycenterandtherebyminimizetheriskofinjuryordeath.Thespecifichazardsaddressedbythisspecificationareseatstrengthtosupporttheoccupant,producttipover,openingsforfingerentrapmentandsmallparts.

Scope

Thisconsumersafetyperformancespecificationcoversperformancerequirements,testmethodsandmarkingrequire-mentstopromotesafeuseofastationaryactivitycenterbyanoccupant.

Thisconsumersafetyperformancespecificationisin-tendedtominimizetheriskofincidentstoanoccupantresultingfromnormaluseandreasonablyforeseeablemisuseorabuseofastationaryactivitycenter.

Nostationaryactivitycenterproducedaftertheapprovaldateofthisconsumersafetyperformancespecificationshall,eitherbylabelorothermeans,indicatecompliancewiththisspecificationunlessitconformstoallrequirementscontainedherein.

Thisconsumersafetyperformancespecificationisnotintendedtoaddressincidentsandinjuriesresultingfromtheinteractionofotherpersonswiththechildoccupantinthestationaryactivitycenterortheincidentsresultingfromabuseandmisusebychildrenabletowalk.
