IntroductionNowadays, people are beginning to realize that with the rapid development of global economy, no nation, group or culture can remain isolated any more. It is easy to imagine how different cultures might work in the cross-cultural environment. China has entered World Trade Organization?(WTO) and it is the host of 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. Therefore, all Chinese have a great interest, a strong eagerness to learn foreign languages for the sake of cross-cultural communication. As these cross-cultural encounters increase, the potential for misunderstandings or mistakes may lead to the failure of communication.?Cross-cultural communication is a cultural phenomenon. Its existence and development are affected by culture. When analyzing the reasons why misunderstandings occur in cross-cultural communication, people will think that it is because people from various social cultural backgrounds will have different value systems. These value systems and the way people present themselves are not well understood by others, as well as people always judge the behaviors of their counterparts according to their own cultural values. They usually just follow their own common sense, which means they think what they do is right or reasonable.?It’s not difficult to communicate with a foreigner. It is not easy to avoid or decrease the misunderstanding and mistakes in order to get a satisfying outcome in the cross-cultural communication. Therefore, the cross-cultural communication skills are very important for us.In order to solve this problem, I have read many books about cross-cultural communication and found some strategies for effective cross-cultural communication. In this paper I will give some useful strategies and suggestions to help readers to have a successful cross-cultural communication.?II. Cross-cultural Communication? A.
