Introduction Task-based language teaching?(TBLT) was originally developed by Prabhu in Bangalore, southern India since the 1980s to challenge the traditional itemized form-based methodology. TBLT originates from CLT?(Communicative Language Teaching). It’s a combination of functional-nationalist, cognitive, language acquisition theory and humanism, etc?.Task-based language teaching?(TBLT) is becoming a catchword in English teaching circles in many countries, more and more linguists and scholars become interested in the research of TBLT. It was not until 2001 that TBLT actually attracted the attention of thousands of teachers in China. In that year, the Ministry of Education issued the National Curriculum Standards for English Education, which suggested adopting TBLT in English teaching in schools.? Although it is advocated by authorities, teachers and textbooks, the present teaching situation which is till test-oriented does not quite appeal to it. It is not easy for teachers to implement enough to deal with task-activity in the English classroom. They wrongly use the term TBLT in the FLT classroom:?“Today our task is to recite the text.”?“Here is a grammar translation task”?“Our task today is to finish the exercise on the workbook p26.” In such a classroom, the learning is still thoroughly controlling asks. Thus, only one aim encourages the students to learn—the good marks for the examinations. As a result, most of the students will lose their interests and learning becomes a big burden. There are some other situations where the tasks are used improperly. The tasks are not scientifically presented in the classroom or too mechanically used. The language form isn’t emphasized at all. The teacher in the classroom almost says nothing except for a few commanding or commenting words. In such a classroom, learning is like playing and the class atmosphere is quite warm and lively, b
