With the acceleration of China’s modernization and the increase of cooperation and communication between China and other countries, education has advanced greatly. To be in line with such rapid advances, English teaching has to adapt itself to form a streamlined education system instead of the traditional way of teaching. It must make better use of the results of modern education theories and focus itself on improving the students’ practical abilities to use English. In such circumstances, the teaching ideology must be changed from?“teacher-centered” and?“knowledge-focused” to?“student-centered” and?“competence-focused”.? But what is real?“student-centered” teaching? To achieve this, teachers should organize their teaching based on not only the teaching contents, but also on the consideration of the learners, the learning process of the learners and their characteristics. In other words, in the case of English teaching environment, emphasis should be laid on the training of Chinese learners’ autonomy ability to learn English and the respecting of individual learners differences.? As a result, knowledge about learning styles can help educators concerned with issues of access and equity for students who have not yet been well served by our nation’s schools to move beyond the mere rhetoric of a?“student-centered” classroom. ???? While in fact, it is often difficult for teachers to totally understand some technical terms, correlated with learning styles, and how to put learning styles into real teaching process, which can be elaborated in this paper. II. Basic Points of Learning Styles A. Definitions Related to Learning Styles ??
