These seemingly simple terms of address include a number of implications for power relations in rural families . In the investigated villages, most wives live with their husbands’ families regardless of whether they come from the same region as their 3 4 husbands . Such a tradition implies an agnatic kinship . That is, after marriage, a woman will join her husband’s kinship network and leave that of her parents.
