Sensor technology will comprise an important part of this. Voice recognition will likely improve the unit-user interface. The growth of the use of electronics and microelectronics in appliances will be slowed until the development of sensors has advanced. Sensor technology is coming down in price and there is an increasing variety of reliable, low-cost sensors available. An intuitive approach to controlling appliance systems is what the appliance industry has needed, and the industry is showing signs it will definitely be taking advantage of this approach.
