The theoretical basis for establishing the compensation mechanism of the interregional farmland protection and promoting the harmonious and sustainable development of the regional society and economy was analyzed ,including “club goods ”theory ,the externality theory ,the theory of regional sustainable de velopment and the financial transfer payment theory. And some suggestions were put forward ,such as providing a good institutional environment ,making the reasonable organization arrangement and constructing the diversified regional compensation mechanism for the compensation of regional farmland protection.
