To in- crease the independent innovation and improve the technical level is the only way to keep the development of Chinas enter- prises. Using the data from the manufacturing industry at the state-owned scale and above throughout China in 2005, this paper analyzes the independent innovation degree of Chinas enterprises from many angles in a detailed way. The results show that there are significant differences in the innovation degree among different industries and different enterprises with different ownership types and different affiliation., but there is no significant difference among enterprises in different geo- graphical locations. To improve the independent innovation ability of Chinas enterprises, it is feasible to strengthen the in- novative support for collective enterprises, private enterprises and town and township enterprises through tax reduction, re- search and development subsidy and so on.
