Polyphos phate accumulating organism ( PAOs) an glycogen accumulating organism ( GAOs) are two main microorganisms which coul influencr the stability of EBPR process. Therefore, the stu ies of the tw o microorganisms have signif i cant importance in im proving the st abilit y of EBPR process. Base on the comprehensive literature review , the paper summarize the species an metabolism mechanism of PAOs an GAOs, the factors w hich coul influence the compet i t ion of PAOs an GAOs in EBPR process are also intro uce . Finally , t he irect ion of future research of PAOs an GAOs is prospecte .
