Abstract : Satellite naviga tion ha s stepped i nto the era of a hundred flowers i n bloom. The progress, a ppl ica tion, con

c iples a nd development steps a re introduced. Secondly , the genera l rea liza tions of signa l frequency a nd the coordi
nate system a s well as the ti me system of Beidou satellite na viga tion system i n the fra me of compatibil ity a nd i nterop
era bility a re desc ribed. Thi rdly, in the concept of redunda ncy, the ma in contributions of Bei dou system a re a na lyz ed.
At la st, the a pplications a nd the ma i n c ha llenges of Beidou system a re reviewed.
