T his theory has exerted great influence on the study of languages in every aspect. From the perspective of pol- ysemy in English and the influence of prototype theory on the formation and its teaching method, this paper attempts to exhibit that prototype theory plays an effective role in the cognitive activity of human beings, thus promoting the integration of this theory with the practice of English teaching method.
