different results later, that the age of moraine in Hailuoguo NO.1 camp is to be 9 ka, and the age of moraine in the south side of NO.2 camp is to be 6 ka. There ages got by Owen can only represent the retreat time of glacier in the early stage of the post glaciation and the warmest period of the Holocene, but can’t represent the formation time of Hailuogou glacier. Another example is in Tanggula Mountains, the moraine in the most southern of Taoerjiu pass area dated by L. Owen was dated to 140 ka, but the moraine in the terminal of expanded foot glacier which was originally identified to be penultimate glaciation was also dated to 140 ka. It’s against the evolutionary in two different glaciations. Prof. Shi pointed out that there are some differences between the age got by Chinese scholar in the previous research(2006) and the data got recently in his book New Understanding of Quaternary glaciations in China in the year of 2011, and we must do some further study. The development and application of a variety of dating methods give opportunities to us to learn the evolutionary sequence of Quaternary glacier, but there are huge challenges in the application of there dating data. We must identify glacier landform before we collect samples, and understand the process that how glacier sediment transported. In this way, we could select a good sampling location to improve testing methods and reduce the error of dating. After that we need analyze the data appropriately. There are many dating methods now, and there is a need to collect more samples to confirm each other. Dating of moraine will play a better role in future.
