Abstract:U sing the FEM model of combining shell and beam elements, and through the analysis of typical floor
slab with or without opening and horizontal loading, the mechanical characteristics of floor slab with large
opening for underground structure under horizontal and vertical loadings are analysedUnlike normal floor slab
only bearing vertical loading, simulation results show that slab and beams near the opening exist horizontal
displacement and tension stress in the plane of floor slab with large opening under horizontal loadingT he
tension stress in plane and moment out of plane must be considered for floor slab with large opening in the
design of underground structure
