Abstract The cross cultural aw areness is one of the basic requirements for an oral interpreter w hen he
or she takes part in the intercultural communication. Th e author endeavors to give a tentative study on
“what cross-cultural aw areness is” and its relationship with oral interpretation. In addition, som e opera-
tional techniques are suggested for the conscious cultivation of cross-cultural aw areness by the oral in-
terpreter.
