It pre sents, from t he perspective of Relevance Theory, a detailed account of the criterion in translation and the func tion of relevance in the interpretation ( the inference of intention) in translation. In translating, t he principle of relevance should be ept, for it governs the selection of context and guidest he inference of intention. In the rel evance framewor , translat ion can be defined as a dynamic process, an act of ostensive_inferential verbal ( in tralingual or interlingual) interpretation.
