Different social conditions generate different culture, while culture tends to create languages which play a vital role in the civilization development of human society. As a student majoring in English, whether knowing about the common sense of the target language should be set as a compulsory course has been the hot topic in the world of academy. While studying English at college, I find it is vital to learn about the culture of Europe and America. Not only the translation between English and Chinese, but also English writing needs a well knowing about relevant cultural backgrounds. Only in this way, can we accomplish an excellent work.
