Methods A randomized, single-blind, controlled study, 20 patients were divided randomly into treatment group and control group n 10 in each ．Both 2 groups received routine rehabilitation training. The treatment group received underwater walk training, additionally , 20-30 min once daily, 3 days per week for 8 weeks. Their modified Barthel index （MBI ）、modified Asworth scale （MAS ）、10m maximum walking speed MWS were tested before and 8 weeks after treatment . Results Both groups showed significant improvements in terms of MBI ，MWS after treatment P 0.05 . But non significantly in MAS. Conclusion The underwater walk training can improve the walking ability of patients with spinal cord injury.
