Based on bacteria separation from Mn2O3 active membrane on the surface of mature manganese sand and bacteria identification by 16S rDNA sequencing, the study tested the iron and manganese removal capacity of identified 0 strains by catalyzed oxidation in water, and the removal capacity of mature manganese sand after enlarging cultivation and inoculation. The surface materials of membrane filter of manganese sand were analyzed by X-ray photoelectron spectrometry (XPS) as well. The study showed that the separated bacteria were Stenotrophomonas and Brevibacillus agri, and both strains have better catalyzed oxidation capacities 2+ 2+ for Fe and Mn .
