Four factors that determined the period of preventive maintenance included the attribute of medical equipment, physical risks, utilization rate and failure rate. Each factor was assessed in various levels, weights and scores according to different standards. Through assignment of weights to four factors, the average score can be calculated for each medical equipment, based on which the priority and period of preventive maintenance were determined. This easy-to-use and feasible evaluation system can meet the needs of the department of medical engineering.
