Abstract The acetylacetonatocarbonyltriphenylphosphinerhodium(I) is widely used as the catalyst
for the oxo-process of alcohols. In the present paper, it was synthesized from RhCl •H O in two steps

with 91% overall yield. The structure of the compound was characterized by IR, MS and H-NMR, the
results agreed with those reported in the literatures. The process was simple and can be used for
commercial production in large scales. The product of this method has been successful applied to the
oxo-alcohols plant in our country.
