Because the m ethord depend on fetures is good in com pressing am ount of information, and is of h igh speed and high precision in object detection algorithm, it has been popu lar in object detection. SIFT algorithm spendsmore tmi e and needs h igh data quantity. This paper introduced the basic concept of SURF algorithm, m ade an application of SURF algorithm in face detecting and face tracking, elaborated the design m ethod of face track ing system, andm ade use ofOpenCV technique to carry out the expermi ental system of face track ing based on SURF algorithm. Expermi ent result expresses that the face track ing system based on SURF algorithm is effective in m atch ing identification w ith good features of real- tmi e and robustness.
